ECS Insight & Education

Only 13% of medical schools mention the 2nd largest neurotransmitter system in the body. However, ECS research drives the need for therapeutic options that could potentially treat many symptoms and chronic diseases. The global impact of consumption and innovation of cannabinoid products is growing at a rapid pace, and it’s becoming more imperative that healthcare professionals understand the science. EMHG is here to help enhance that understanding.

What is ECS?

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is the second-largest neurotransmitter system in the body. Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body: in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands and immune cells. Since its discovery, a huge body of evidence and peer-reviewed research has shown that the ECS is perhaps the most important physiologic system involved in establishing and maintaining human health.

The discovery of the Endocannabinoid System is the single most important medical scientific discovery ever, and will save more lives than the discovery and application of sterile surgical technique.

ECS NEEDS ASSESSMENT

Clinical therapeutics of botanical medicines and pharmaceutical-derived product development is advancing worldwide. The increase of real-world data for medical conditions such as refractory childhood epilepsy, neurological disorders, oncology, pain and other complex illnesses will continue to shed light on the safety and efficacy of these treatment options.

However, the pace at which laws are changing cannot keep up with the demand for information within medicine’s conventional boundaries.

Physicians lack a clear understanding of the science behind the relationship between cannabinoid treatments and ECS-related medical conditions. They are left to question potential drug interactions, labeling, quality control and, potential liability. Patients are then left to venture without guidance.
